When did Shoes Become so Sweet?

On September 8th 2010 there was a fashion event which every designer would make or choose his/her favorite work and represent it to a costumers, which were all over the place and not to mention that there were 100 including celebrates because this event was the 3rd annual Fashion's Night Out. While all of the designers were great and had some impressive work BUT most of the attraction was facing a candy store name Dylan's Candy Bar! Can you imagine that. Now your probably asking your self what does candy have to do with fashion, well a lot apparently if the owner of the store is Dylan Lauren the daughter of the most famous designer in the world. Last year she challenged the students of Savannah College of Art & Design to make the entire heel/shoe made out of candy, and so they did. They could have chosen to use any of the 7,000 verities of sweets. While all of the students did an marvelous job with the candy shoes it was one girl in general that caught the judges fancy, Sarah Richardson. Her 2 years work finally payed off earning her the cool $5,000 and some other things {mostly memberships.}If in modern days you could make fancy shoes out of delicious candy bars imagine what you'll be able to do in the future. I hope its going to be something SWEET {did you see what i did there}

New Zealand's Psychic Sheep

Since Paul the Octopus seer who predicted the outcome of Spain winning the world cup, nobody was as good of a psychic, until Sonny Wool showed up, New Zealand's psychic. Not only is it amazing that she predicted that New Zealand will win two games in the rugby world cup, which they did accomplish, shes also a sheep {and when i say sheep i mean it, the one who goes baaa.} It all started when she was a little lamb, she could predict whenever there was going to be a rainfalls or storms. Hence when the rugby cup season kicked off Sonny's owner Dan Boyd decided to test if the sheep could foresee more important events {which to him meant rugby} Like Iv mentioned before so far the sheep's foreseeing was very accurate, and the people of New Zealand hope for it to stay accurate. To enable the sheep to tell his prediction, the sheep's owner Dan sets up to boxes of hay. On both of the boxes there is a flag, one of their country/team and the other with the others country/opponent team. And the one that Sonny chooses to eat the hay from represents the wining team. I know that most of you think that shes only an animal and that the hay shes eating is only because shes hungry i think this to but how could you explain two wins, we might have to wait and see if shell make any mistakes.

Living Things


The things I know about living things are that all of them have needs, what I mean by that is that they need water, sun, food or anything else and so on. They also need to need to have cells to be a living thing, like a normal human being or an animal or a plant {A interesting fact about plants is that not only do they have cells they also have DNA} etc. They need to be able to grow and also when they reach certain point they need to reproduce. But sometimes there are situation when something was a living thing but it is not anymore, take for example a table {if its made out of wood.} Tress are considered living things so when a woodsman comes and chops it down and makes it into a table it is not consider to be alive, or so I think. A thing I would like to know is  can a thing that isn’t live over time develop into a thing that is? I also would like to know how scientist see what color the cells in our bodies are? That’s all the questions I have I hope that I find out my answer through out this interesting unit.  Thank you once again Mrs M for choosing a fun unit for us to do.

My Goals for 7th Grade Science

In today's science class we where talking about what will be our goals throughout the whole school year, and these are what i came up with.
  1. I would like to have the best possible grades from science class, because i really try hard and really enjoy learning new topics 
  2. Talk less turing class
  3. Do my best!!! {this goes along with number 1}
  4. Speak scientifically turing science class
So thats about it, looking forward to trying to succeed in my goals if i do {pray to god} i will be happy and proud of my self for putting down a target i was aiming at the whole school year.

My Scientific Summer
Like any normal human being I went swimming this summer. Now when I say it like that it seems as though it’s the most casual and most performed activity to do in the summer, and it is, but its got more to it. When you swam have you ever thought about why your body stay up on the surface of the water and not just drawn, because I have? Or why do people with more mass drawn faster then people who are lighter? Well if you don’t know ill answer it right now. But before that I wanted to mention that almost any activity you do has to relate to science {I personally think that that’s the beauty of science.} Now going back to my topic, the reason you can flout on the surface of the water when your swimming or when you just want to relax is because as you all now from the basic principle of physics anything that has more density then the water will sink but don’t forget that our body is made up of 2/3 of water, so that’s basically why we can flout and don’t drown, but if you start moving around carelessly you are putting more weight which automatically means that your starting to drawn. Now for the mass thing it’s actually pretty simple. If you have more mass, you have more weight, which means the force is pushing you down toward the floor of the sea, or pool if you didn’t go to the beach/sea.

The Path of an Marble

Hello guys, in science class lately we have been measuring the path of an marble. We {my partner and I}did this by putting tape on one side and labeling it start and then at the end of the table we would put another label which will say finish. Then we took the materials which were for us



Our guiding question was does the speed of the marble depend on the mass?

My answer was that it does because if the marble/ball has a lot of mass then it would be very difficult for it to start which equals an disturbance in the speed.


Materials
  • Metal Marble
  • Little Marble
  • Big Marble 
  • Tennis Ball 
  • Golf Ball {worst of all}
  • Straw 
When we got all the tools necessary we would take the straw but it next to the ball and blow on it with a steady breath. We would continue doing this for all of our materials. Of course because of the size and mass of the marbles/balls some of them didn't have enough density to go as fast or start {like the golf ball} So our teacher told us to draw all of the marbles paths. And  by my analyzes non of the marbles/balls would go straight. They would all curve or stop depending on there mass.

From Feet to Fathoms

Hello guys. Today in science class we explored how people used to measure thing without any necessary tools, and we found out that there where many different ways to measure things.

Our guiding question was:
What are some advantages of using the metric measurements of the old English system?

Hypothesis:
The advantages of the old English measurements is that you can always use it you don't need any necessary tool to help you, like a ruler {Because not everyone has a ruler at hand}, you only need to have your body parts along with you.

Materials:
-Pace: walking with outstretched legs {1 yard}
-Egyptian Cubit: elbow to the tip of the forefinger {50 cm}
-Fathom: Tip of the forefinger to the other tip of the forefinger {6 feet, fisherman use this kind of measurement now days as well}
-Palm: across the palm {3 in}
-Span: from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the little finger {6 in}
-English Yard: from the tip of the pointer to the middle of the nose {1yard}
-Foot: One foot

Data analysis:
As you can see from the graph most of our {my partners and my} measurements without  tools were accurate. So the English measurement system was almost 100% correct. And we tried measuring things in different ways.

Conclusion:
In conclusion this activity was great for my partner and I because we finished our project on time, and we were working together and were not fooling around. The English measurement system was mostly accurate. The only problem that the English system has is that if a bigger and wider guy measures the same thing you did your not going to end up with the same/correct answer.

Further Inquiry:
I don't have any further questions and I have to admit that my partner and i where working very hard and where mostly focused to our task. My overall thought on this project was that it was fun but also challenging when it came to measuring without equipment
