READING

Gas Is Interesting
In today’s Blog post I am going to answer 2 very importuned questions related to Gas.

The first question starts of like this: What types of measurement are useful when working with gases?
Answer: Well unlike form solid and liquid gas is really hard to measure but one way that came to mind was that you take a box and the volume in it equals to the gas because gas fill every container in other words it has the power to expand.

The second question is: How are volume temperature, and pressure of a gas related.
Answer: Well they are realated to gas because you need all of these elements to find the mass and space of gas or even make it up.

Here are my questions and answers if you disagree tell me why? :p

How to use a pulsar to find Starbucks
By Marissa Cevallos

What if you want to go to your grandma’s house and you have no clue where it’s located in, of course that you’re going to use the our fancy GPS, but I have to tell you something, the GPS doesn’t get you to Jupiter. Scientists have been working on finding out how pulsar can show and track everything in space without laying a signal touch of technology on it. They sow that it works by giving radio blimps. This new fact is very useful for astronauts because whenever they miss read something or something happens that they go off course the pulsar will just send them back on their long trip and we have ro pray to god that they will have a nice flight into space {cause remember no one can hear you scream in space.} If you personally ask me I would say that this new discovery is really helpful to a lot o people because it stops pollution and not only astronauts and it also is a good GPS.

                  Experiment With Worm Goo.
Matija d
11/17/10
Today in are awesome but serious {yeah right} science lab we had one of the most amazing experiments ever, we made worm goo. This weird but not harmful mixture was so fun to play with, and it had the same properties as corn starch.  Water & solid. When you held it it was soft and watery at the same time and when it dries out it just becomes a string because it is plastic. When you tried to squish it you couldn’t unless you took a really thick piece. It’s made by water and calcium chloride, because it is plastic and not hard plastic it’s flexible. As you can see our science teacher {Mrs. M} is the best science teacher ever and in her class we learn and have fun at the same time.

Can Gold Cause Trees to Turn in to Streetlights
Meera Dolasia
on 11/15/2010
Do you think that it’s such a crazy idea to turn trees into
Streetlights? If you really what to know more about this topic your probably asking your self  “How can trees take the jobs as streetlights,” well, I am going to share that right now. The nano gold particles{in gold} is almost like green energy which can turn trees into streetlights. A team of scientist led by Yen-Hsun Su a scientist form China Taiwan has taken LED {the thing that is in street lights} and not only is it really expensive it is also quite toxic. For this amazing life changing experiment he {Yen-Hsun Su} infused sea urchin shaped nanoparticles of gold inside the leaves of a Bacopa Caroliniana plant. Although this idea is really cool and smart and wealthy it has some issues like every winter the leaves fall and because of that it’s a problem to bringing this idea to life.

         How Pumpkins Get Surprised
By Alexandra Witze for Science News
November 3, 2010

Have you ever dreamed of seeing a pumpkin that’s as big as a full grown man and weighs much but when I say much I mean much more than a human? Well scientist found out that the “Great Pumpkin” actually exists, and not only that but scientist also found out what causes happen so that the pumpkin gets so much bigger than his actual form. For a pumpkin to get bigger the guard needs to get bigger therefore increasing its stress. “Their weight generates tension, which pulls cells apart and accelerates growth,” says David Hu a mechanical engineer from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. This pumpkin was found in the Guinness world records, it was so popular because it weighs 1,810.5  pounds. As you can hear {and see in 3 seconds} this is a very very big pumpkin and it deserved to go in the Guinness world records.

Here is the Pumpkin being lifted from the ground, and as you can see it as big as a person and much heavier than him

A bike helmet that won’t destroy your look
1O/31/2O10
Jaanki Dave
Have you ever wanted a helmet that matches your clothes or that doesn’t ruin your hair {especially you girls?} Well two girls which names are Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin are working on a project to do just that. This idea was not unveiled recently infact it was first brought up in 2005. This idea was so well thought and designed that it was featured in the vogue magazine. This unbelievable helmet works when a cyclist hits something or gets hit a airbag pops up and covers his head. If you are asking yourself where does the airbag go well I’ll tell you. Its wraped around your neck like a scarf and there are many many colors and they could match perfectly with your clothes, it may be switched off when not needed. Although the helmet sounds and looks cool there has to be some improvements. One thing the two girls {geniuses} are working on improving is when a rider makes a physical move it could send a false warning to the helmet. But does that make it any less attractive…no. I know your probably drooling and want to go to the stores and buy this right know but it’s not in stores yet.

Why Some People Feel Sleepy Over the Day
25/10/10
Science Daily
Have you ever wondered why some people need more sleep then others, or why there are people who want to sleep during the day? Well this may have something to do with your genes. There is something called narcolepsy this is when people are feeling very sleepy during the day {like in school for some kids.}There is also a gene named DQBI*0602.Any one who has this gene doesn’t need to panic because this doesn’t mean that a person will develop narcolepsy. Scientist said that 12-38 percent of those with the gene DQBI*0602 are healthy sleepers and there is no problem. But people with a gene can also develop narcolepsy but this is much less common. Scientist did a test, they let people without sleeping problems sleep for 10hr and they woke up fresh.2 days after they only let them sleep for 4hr and the people could do anything to stay awake {read, play games and watch a movie, But the people with the gene were falling asleep much faster. At the end people who had the gene had the average of 29 min of sleeping, and the other ones without problems for sleeping had 35 mins.

                 Skateboarding Priest
Can you even imagine a priest skateboarding? Would you die of laughter if u sow one? Would it look cool? Well I have all those questions answer in this paragraph. If you don’t want to read a paragraph about a priest skateboarding then you really shouldn’t keep reading on, but I assure you, you won’t be disappointed after reading this. A Hungarian priest whose name is Reverend Zoltan Lendva, 45 years old, Showed his wicked skateboard moves to a group of kids in a small town called Redics. His goal was to show the kids how much fun it is to go to church so there would be younger kids in a church as well as adults .He already knew how to skateboard because he started from when he was 14 until now. So far there are 3 kids who wanted to go to church because the priest said he would teach them some tricks. If this priest keeps showing his skateboard moves maybe most of the children would go to church.

                                                  Flying like a Bird
Did you ever dream of flying, soaring into the air like a bird. No engine just hands and feet. Well Todd Reichert an engineering student from the University of Toronto did just that. He made a weird looking plane with pedals and something else to control the wings. Todd Reichert said it wasn’t easy flying the plane. He had one year of training to make his arms and legs stronger to control the plane. It took him 4 years and 30 students to make the plane successfully. Todd Reichert flew the plane for 19.3 seconds covering the distance of 145 meters at an average speed of 16mph.the plane costs $200,000 .That’s a lot of money just to buy one plane. This plane of course is not going to be used for transport but is most likely going to spend its days at an aviation museum. As you can see there are amazing new discoveries and the dream of many people {to fly} could actually be.

                                   Spray on Fashion
Spray on fashion is basically cotton, wool, acrylic, linen and manufactured fabrics put in a can so you can spray it on someone and make your own original designs. The geniuses who made this were. Manel Torres a Spanish designer and a English professor of particle technology, Paul Lukham. With this new invention you can wear a different t-shirt to school every day and plus it is your design so you can make in color as well. How thrilled would you be to know that every morning you are going to design your own t-shirt. Manel Torres also believes that his new design is also going to be used for spraying on bandages that wouldn’t irritate the wound, so it could be used for more things than just fashion. The things you make can also be washed like any other clothing. But you can see that this unbelievable design is not out yet, because it has some minor problems like it smells, and there is an issue of snugness for some people. But it’s not going to be long before we can spray on your own clothes.

One similarety is on mass all of the elements have a definite mass.
One pattern is that on heating it goes from highest to lowest which means that gases expend really larg but solid dosen't.
Every one of them can be compressable but some are easier then others.

What i know about Matter

I found out that using some of are 5 senses {see, touch, and smell} we can find out were matter is.I also found out that without elements {matter} the world couldn't exist

Science Goals

My Goal for science is to be more skilled with chemicals and other science things, including how to make different materials.
